Happy Holidays from the DOXA Team!

Happy Holidays from the DOXA Team!

The folks at DOXA would like to say Happy Holidays!

2019 was a big year! During the Festival, we hosted a record number of sold-out screenings for Baljit Sangra's incredible Because We Are Girls, welcomed 35 filmmakers and artists as festival guests, and embarked on the next leg of our European Grand Tour with special program Italia Italia, among other achievements.

We also said good-bye to Development and Communications Manager Teresa Alfeld, who did an outstanding job during her time with DOXA. We wish her lots of luck as she pursues documentary filmmaking full-time. Sarah Bakke has since stepped into the role, and is a great fit; she came to DOXA having previously worked with The Cinematheque and Women in Film and Television.

Furthermore, 2019 featured our second-annual Vancouver Podcast Festival, which grew upon the success of last year's inaugural fest. Through the dedicated work of our volunteer organizing committee, our staff, and countless volunteers, we offered four jam-packed days of amazing audio-storytelling content.

Our small but mighty team extends a big thank-you to DOXA's supporters! We couldn't do this work without you. Your support plays an integral role in our documentary film festival and podcast festival. Financial donations, in-kind donations, raffle and silent auction item donations, volunteering—everything you do allows us to continue bringing some of the most provocative nonfiction cinema (and audio documentary) to Vancouver audiences. For this, we offer our heartfelt appreciation!

As the year's end approaches, we hope you'll continue to support extraordinary nonfiction storytelling. Now is a great time to make a financial donation and recieve a tax receipt; just follow the link here: https://www.doxafestival.ca/donate

Thanks again for your enduring support, and we hope to see you at DOXA 2020 (May 7-17)!

Warmly,

Atenas, Selina, Gina and Sarah
