CATHY WALKER | Cathy Walker is the former National Health and Safety Director of the Canadian Auto Workers Union. Cathy has been a national union representative responsible for health, safety and environment since 1975. Cathy has worked on China-related projects researching auto assembly plants in China; and met with various Chinese union delegations visiting Canada to build understanding and solidarity between the union movements of Canada and China.

TSERING SHAKYA | Tsering Shakya, is a Professor at the Institute of Asian Research at the University of British Columbia. He is the author of The Dragon in the Land of Snows, A History of Tibet Since 1947, Published by Columbia University Press.

JESSICA BARRETT | Jessica Barrett is Senior Editor at Vancouver Magazine, where she oversees coverage of city politics, issues, people, and culture. Her work has also appeared across the country in publications such as The National Post, The Vancouver Sun, The Ottawa Citizen, and The Calgary Herald. In 2016 Jessica was awarded the Jack Webster Foundation's City Mike award for her opinion columns focusing on affordability issues, work, development and generational discord in Vancouver.

ELLEN BALKA | Ellen Balka is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Communication, Simon Fraser University and a Senior Research Scientist for Vancouver Coastal Health. Since the late 1990s, her research has been concerned with information technology in the health sector. Her work has also been concerned with the challenges that frontine workers experience in their workplaces.

LAURA LYNCH | Laura Lynch has covered Canada and the world for more than twenty years. She has been the CBC's correspondent based in London and in Washington DC. In both posts, she covered stories that marked crucial moments in world history. In Africa, Laura went undercover to report on what was happening inside Zimbabwe at a time when journalists were barred from the country. She has also spent time in the Middle East, most recently in Syria and Iran. Since her return to Canada in 2012, Laura has been a regular guest host on The Current, As it Happens and The SundayEdition.

WILSON MENDES | Wilson Mendes is a member of the Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty (WGIFS), and a second year PhD student with the Faculty of Land and Food Systems (LFS) at UBC. His research looks at the intersection of Indigenous community planning and Indigenous food sovereignty in two Indigenous communities in British Columbia. The focus of his work is based on a collaborative and community-based approach to build capacity among Indigenous communities and bring community voices into decision making process.
