We are seeking dynamic individuals who are interested in working in a busy, energetic, film-loving environment to fill the positions of Outreach and Audience Services Assistant and Visual Media Assistant. All applicants must have excellent computer (preferably Mac) and internet skills and the ability to work independently within a team setting. *Please note the employment criteria at the bottom of the posting.

Contract: Up to 26 weeks, starting as early as February 29, 2016 until August 26, 2016.
 


Outreach and Audience Services Assistant

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Operations Manager to coordinate the implementation of the DOXA Box Office system for the 2016 DOXA Festival.
  • Assist in DOXA’s Community Box Office on-site locations leading up to the festival.
  • Manage the festival box office during the festival and other DOXA screenings and events.
  • Assist with the Executive Director to develop, implement and report on audience surveys and feedback.
  • Provide sales and support by phone, email, and in-person with patrons inquiring about box office needs.
  • Work with DOXA Staff to research and implement outreach strategies for DOXA screenings and events.
  • Assist in general office duties, as required, including answering phones and organizing mailouts.
  • Report on box office statistics.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to represent DOXA positively with filmmakers, sponsors, partners, audience members, and the
  • Previous box office or audience service experience an asset.
  • Excellent communication, community development, and people skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Time management skills, with the ability to organize, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills in building positive relationships with people at all levels.
  • Familiarity with the film industry and festival operations an asset.

Visual Media Assistant

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with DOXA staff to edit festival film trailers.
  • Assist with photo and video documentation of DOXA screenings and events.
  • Assist with DOXA’s outreach team to research and implement outreach strategies for DOXA film screenings and events.
  • Work with DOXA staff with developing strategies for audience engagement using visual media.
  • Assist in general office duties, as required, including answering phones, keeping office organized, and putting together packages, etc.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to represent DOXA positively with filmmakers, sponsors, partners, audience members, and the broader community.
  • Photography and videography experience an asset.
  • Experience with photo editing software (eg. Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) and video editing software (eg. Final Cut, Premiere, etc.) an asset.
  • Excellent communication, community development, and people skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Time management skills, with the ability to organize, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills in building positive relationships with people at all levels.
  • Familiarity with the film industry and/or festival operations, an asset.
