Her October 2008 album, Chances, was the result. Jill has recently returned to her adopted Vancouver from a stint as the Artist in Residence at the Banff Centre where she was writing songs with Ron Sexsmith for her next album.

K’naan
His name means "Traveler" — an apt moniker for this Somali-born, Canadian-bred, world-renowned musician. The grandson of one of Somalia’s most famous poets, and nephew of famed Somali singer Magool, K'naan is creating his own musical path through reggae, funk, pop, soul and hip-hop. He spent the early years of his life avoiding death and listening to the hip-hop records sent to him from America by his father. Taking the last commercial flight ever to leave Somalia, his family relocated to Harlem and later to Canada when he was 13. K'naan's song, "Wavin' Flag" has been chosen as the Coca-Cola anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. During the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, 50 other Canadian artists came together with K'naan under the collaboration name of Young Artists for Haiti to produce a moving charity version of the song. Most recently K'naan won Juno Awards for Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. He currently calls The World home.

Nardwuar the Human Serviette
Only Vancouver could produce a media personality like Nardwuar the Human Serviette and allow him to thrive. He's unique: annoying, insightful, relentlessly probing, and, above all, daring. His moniker comes from a complicated afternoon of juvenile goofing around. His fame comes from many things — hosting a radio show on UBC's campus radio station CiTR, his appearances on MuchMusic, writing for Chart, Razorcake, Roctober and Flipside magazines, starting his own record label while in his teens, his endless advocacy for gritty underground garage-rock bands and his devotion to promoting all-ages concerts when no one else in town could be bothered. Oh, yeah, he's a performer too, with The Evaporators and Thee Goblins. He also survived a brain hemorrhage at the age of 30 — you have to give him points for that.
